Sivas is one of the rare cities that has hosted many Anatolian civilizations and it has been able to transfer both formal and civilian architecture to present day. The main item observed in the working area is the Sivas Castle. Today only the fortification wall tracks of the castle can be perceived. Traditional housing of the historical Kaleardı Neighborhood which developed at the lower skirt of the castle were destroyed or abondened in time. This thesis study was prepared in order to reveal importance of the original Project prepared by the wise architect Turgut Cansever for the Kaleardı Neighborhood of the Sivas, where he arrived at the invitation of Sivas Municipality in 1996, in terms of urbanism and architecture. This project is a genuine study aimed at preserving the instances of the historical Sivas houses in the Kaleardı Neighborhood and the Ottoman urban texture. The main idea of the project prepared by the Turgut Cansever is to keep the cultural heritage together with the existing instances and to develop a genuine concept with new buildings coherent with the Ottoman neighborhood texture. Cansever tackled the project in his distinctive remark instead of repeating formal forms, the texture of the neighborhood that our ancestors left inheritance without breaking historical ties and ignoring contemporary architecture. The project which was prepared by the Sivas Munucipality in 1997, although it was formalized it could not be implemented for many reasons for almost 20 years. The revision process was carried out on the project by Emine Öğün (daughter) and Mehmet Öğün who are in the project since the beginning adhering to the main idea of the first project in 2017.
