In this study, the effects of pepper (Capsicum annuum) and Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) plants on water quality in the aquaponics production systems were determined. In this purpose, two separate aquaponics systems (AS1, AS2) including pepper and lettuce plants with koi (Cyprinus carpio koi) fish and closed recirculating aquaculture production system (RAS) without plant production for control purposes were established. During the study, water quality parameters were measured on water samples taken from different points of the system. At the end of the study carried out at a temperature of 24 C, it was observed that the fish and the plants were growth with a rate of 100%. It was determined that 17.1% and 13.4% of nitrate (NO3-) in the water of the aquaponics systems were removed by Pepper and Lettuce, respectively. This study showed that the production of pepper and lettuce with koi fish can be carry out in the aquaponics systems without any additional nutrient salt. Keywords: Aquaponic, Hidroponic, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Lettuce, Lactuca sativa, Koi (Cyprinus carpio koi).
