The term long-term unemployment refers to an individual's at least one year of unemployment. The long-term unemployed of educated individuals is a contradiction. It is assumed that individuals with a high level of education will be more advantageous in the labor market than individuals with lower levels of education. However, education in countries with divided labor market like Turkey, it is seen it isn't providing a major contribution to the individual. Therefore, higher education alone is not sufficient to determine the position of the individual in the labor market; The conditions of the labor market are also an important factor in determining the position of the individual in the labor market. It is stated in the literature that educated young people are queued for employment in the public sector and this situation prolongs the unemployment period among the educated young people. Moreover, it is stated that today's young people who make generation Y are more selective in their job search process due to their higher working life expectancy compared to previous generations. The aim of the thesis study is to determine the expectations of the young people who have undergraduate or graduate education and who are unemployed for long term. The research was designed according to the `survey model` which is one of the quantitative research methods. A questionnaire was applied to 420 participants via snowball sampling; Because some of the surveys contain incomplete information, data analysis was carried out through 375 questionnaires. As a result of the study, it was determined that the majority of the participants (73.1%) wanted to work in the public sector. In addition, it was determined that 61.3% of the young people in the sample wanted a job level between 2.501 TL and 4.500 TL and 64.3% of them were in the High Work Life Result Expectation (Ç.Y.S.B.Y) category. The frequency and percentage distributions of the obtained data were examined and the hypotheses determined in the study were tested with Pearson chi-square analysis. As a result of statistical data analysis, Work Life Result Expectation Scale (Ç.Y.S.B.Ö); A statistically significant relationship was found between the participants' household income, first job search status, expectation of finding a job (less than 1 year / more than 1 year). Thus H1 hypothesis is accepted. In addition, the results of the Study Expectation for Survival Scale and the University Education Outcome Expectation Scale were tested with Pearson correlation analysis; H1 hypothesis was accepted by finding that there was a statistically linear relationship between the variables.
