In my thesis, I searched the ways to become singular and plural in a square meter space defined as a limited space. I tried to examine different methods which appears in the process of placing a body in a limited space. In the work, I have experienced that the act of 14 people carrying a box which is defined as an object-space, might differentiates the relationship between the scene and the audience. I also considered the four sides that the audience settled and surrounded the box of one square meter. In this research, the sound scores became an integral part of the choreographic structure as well as the movement. I examined the concepts of the centre and the periphery both for the one square meter space and for the entrance-foyer space which used as a stage. With this piece, I aimed to present a new proposal for site-specific work styles. The body of the space and the space of the body are the main structures of this inquiry. The choreographic approach is based on the perception of space and the reconstruction of this experience.I wanted to use the potential of transforming an object into a performance space by treating a box surface of one square meter as a stage. I also explored the possibilities of a non-spatial stage structure by the fact that this one square meter area can be moved to different places. In 2014, I completed the first version of the work titled `1Metrekare/1Dakika` and exhibited it at the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art with my theatre students at Eskişehir Anadolu University State Conservatory, Stage Arts Department, Theatre Unit. In 2019, I reconsidered the piece with the title `1M2` as a repertoire course with my first year students at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Istanbul State Conservatory (MSFAU ISC.) Contemporary Dance Department, I presented the second version in the foyer of the MSFAU ISC. Contemporary Dance Department.KEY WORDS: Movement in limited space, Soundscape, Site-specific, Object-space, Perception of space.
