There have been 113 volumes of Hamzanâme dedected. The 69th and the volumes after have hot reached to our time. We have studied the thirtieth volume of Hamzanâme. It is the epical-religious life story of Arapian hero Hamza told within the boundaries of oral tradition, but apart from Hamza?s being an Arap in the work has nothing to do with genuine Hamza. Extending with the additions of Persians. Hamzanâme, gained an unreal dimension in terms of events and the chararcters and it was adopted by Turks after Iranians. Thus Hamzanâme took place as one of the epics after the Turks converted into Islam. Who Hamza struggles to convert Islam are the Turks in the text, mektuply the thritieth volume of Hamzanâme tells about how Turks become muslim.Althought the heroes and the places where the event took place accord with the history, the fictitious events are described in Hamzanâme. Though it has been considered as a genre which has the fetures of epic, it also bears the fetures of tales, myths, folk tales and sagas.Despite the fact that its writer is not obvious and since it has been passed through oral literature, the work we have already studied here can be considered in the branch of Anonymous Turkish Folk Literature. Because of the fact that it has a religious aspect the work is written and read constantly, our studies showed that the work is much closer to epic which has more anonymous in terms of its topic and characters.Key Words: folk literature, epic, the expression type oral, Hamzanâme.
