In a PhD thesis named 'THE REPRESANTATION OF AN IDEAL INDIVIDUAL IN TURKISH THEATRE DURING THE MODERNIZATION PROCESS', it is evaluated how and in what conditions the theatre became instrumentalized in the respect of the representation of the individuals during the period from the Tanzimat Reform era in the Ottoman society to the Republic of Turkey. In the first chapter forming the theoretical framework, it is discussed how the modernization process took place in Western societies and how the Ottoman communities evaluated this evaluation that was a cultural change. In the modernization process introduced in Tanzimat Era, the society started to change in terms of society, culture and economy. The social change struggles continuing in the constitutional and republic period was tried to be realized with an enforcing approach since the society's internal dynamics were not ready for such a change. Many approaches and life styles towards the modernization were tried to impose to a society that was not ready yet for a change by the elite or ruling classes. The theater art as well as many new genres in art; did not ignored the cultural change and the authors reflected the problems along with the modernization process through the plays. In these plays, while the traditional Ottoman life style was being criticized, the new human values were praised. In their plays during the process of modernization, the playwrights presented the ideal life style and ideal individual designs as a model through their plays.
