The aim of this research is to analyse the process and practises regarding to thetechnology development zones situated in and near the universities in the name of `theuniversity-industry collaboration`. This research tries to determine the causes and results ofthe transformation in universities through the cases of technocities which launched byuniversities in the context of global capital accumulation and marketization. In thisframework the main problems of this research are the quality of the labour force andconditions of the employment in technocities; relations of technocity companies with globalcapital; the possibilities of knowledge production for public interest in technocities; thereflection of technocities on individual and academic identities. In the design of the studyqualitative research approach was used. In this context, data collected through semistructuredinterviews with company managers, academics and students in the technocities oftwo public universities in Ankara. In order to ensure the privacy of data, these two publicuniversities names were coded as `Fire` and `Earth`.According to the results of this research, the employees have standard working hoursand salaries but academics and students who are working in technocities have variantsalaries and working hours depending on their contribution. The results have also shown thatknowledge production mostly depends on commercial aims and applied sciences such asengineering, medicine and biotechnology. The funds for R&D project is also given toprojects in these fields; the preferences of market have been decisive on which knowledge isto be produced. Even if, the knowledge is produced for high public interest, it is stillsupplied for the exchange value which is not possible to transfer to the needy people for freeof charge. It seems that the most important but also the most violated ethical norms intechnocities are security of knowledge, intellectual property and copyright.
