Modernisation theories, including the times that they were bitterly criticised, had always been and have still been discussed even today when we speak of post modernism. Is it always being popular that makes modernism appealing or is it appealing because it is always popular? Academic stronghold of modernism burst onto the scene, shaped up and was developed, criticised and arqued for passionately. And this work of study that is in search of criticising modernisation theories was started as a result of observing the invalidity of some discourses regarding these theories. Modernisation theory which derives from the idea of obligation of modernism for societies to survive supports these obligations with some other obligations during modernisation process. Modernisation theory defends that linear and one way modernization process ends with becoming a modern society and the only way for that is to follow the socities who are already modern. The most important level in this process is to substitude the traditional values for modern values because traditional values pose obstacle against modernisation. In respect of modernisation theories, the societies willing to be modern should refine their settlement of dispute traditional values with modern values. These previsions which will be criticised in this study, defend that the modern and traditional values do not have to conflict with each other, they can live together in harmony, and the most important point, modernisation with the help of traditions, not within contravention of traditions, is a more realistic approach. In doing so, theory will be approached with a practical view, the modern and traditional values will be compared among the three generations, traditional and modern forms will be questioned if they are in an absolute conflict.
