In children's literature works, there are educational messages covering information, values, attitudes and behaviors. By these messages, various messages are given directly or indirectly to the children. These messages take place in children's minds and influence their approaches to the events and situations they face throughout their lives. In this study, with reference to the influence of educational messages on the personality development, cultural accumulation and socialization of children, educational messages in the children's books of Behiç Ak have been analyzed. The single-case research design is used from the case study designs in the research that is limited to 10 stories that the author collected under the title of `Gülümseten Öyküler`. As a data collection tool, document review was used and the stories were read carefully and the messages were found. The messages summarized by descriptive analysis and sampled are classified by content analysis and collected under the upper categories in the direction of their connections. These upper categories are; messages that support personal development, messages that support social development, messages that support national and spiritual development, messages to improve environmental awareness, and messages that support animal love. In addition, occurrence and ratios of the identified educational messages are shown in tables. In the works examined in the context of the study, the author was seen to emphasize the issues about the environment and animals very often. For this reason, the messages to promote environmental awareness and the messages supporting animal love were considered as upper categories on an individual basis. Behiç Ak draws attention to the animals and the environment and gets children adopt an awareness about these issues. Although `Gülümseten Öyküler` which is the subject of this study draws attentions of the readers of all ages, the target group is secondary school students. Parents, teachers and academicians can review this study in order to learn about the author's works, to select books for a certain purpose, to support the development of the children in the specified categories, and to get benefit for their similar researches. It is thought that this study will guide parents and teachers aiming to raise awareness of children about the environment and animals.
