The aim of this study was to evaluate the applicability of creative drama method in terms of teacher and student in the teaching of 8th grade science course `States of Matter and Heat` unit and also was to examine the effects of creative drama method on students' retention of knowledge, self-efficacy, scientific process skills and attitudes toward science. In the study, case study was utilized as a research method. The sample of the study was composed of 20 who were 8th grade students in a secondary school located in Kilis. As the data collection tools, two identical `States of Matter and Heat` Achievement Tests developed by the researcher, Self Efficacy Scale towards Science and Technology [SESST], Scientific Process Skills [SPS] Test, Science Attitude Scale [SAS], semi-structured interviews and semi-structured observation. In the analysis of quantitative data, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used as a predictive statistical method and the content analysis method was used in the analysis of qualitative data. As a result of the analysis of the data, the positive and negative opinions of the students about the creative drama method and the creative drama learning environment and the difficulties encountered by the teacher in applying the creative drama method and in the implementation phase have been determined. If the physical conditions in the learning environment were adequately provided, the creative drama method was highly applicable to both the teacher and the students. Moreover, while the creative drama method proved to provide students with the persistence of knowledge, attitudes towards science, and self-efficacy, it was achieved that students did not have a statistically significant effect on scientific process skills. In line with these results, necessary suggestions have been made to work on this issue in the future.

Bu çalışmanın amacı 8. sınıf fen bilimleri dersi `Maddenin Halleri ve Isı` ünitesinin öğretiminde yaratıcı drama yönteminin öğretmen ve öğrenciler açısından uygulanabilirliğini değerlendirmek ve ayrıca yaratıcı drama yönteminin öğrencilerin edindikleri bilginin kalıcılığı, özyeterlikleri, bilimsel süreç becerileri ve tutumları üzerine etkisini incelemektir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubunu Kilis ilinde yer alan bir ortaokulda 8. sınıfta öğrenim gören 20 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada veri toplama araçları olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen iki özdeş `Maddenin Halleri ve Isı` Ünitesi Başarı Testi, Fen ve Teknoloji Dersi Özyeterlik Ölçeği [FTÖÖ], Bilimsel Süreç Becerileri [BSB] Testi, Fen Dersi Tutum Ölçeği [Fen-TÖ], yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme ve yarı yapılandırılmış gözlem kullanılmıştır. Nicel verilerin analizinde kestirimsel istatistik yöntemlerinden Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıralar Testi, nitel verilerin analizinde içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi sonucunda öğrencilerin yaratıcı drama yöntemi ve yaratıcı drama öğrenme ortamı ile ilgili olumlu ve olumsuz görüşleri ile öğretmenin yaratıcı drama yöntemini uygulama durumları ve uygulama aşamasında karşılaştığı zorluklar belirlenmiştir. Öğrenme ortamındaki fiziksel koşulların yeterince sağlanması halinde yaratıcı drama yönteminin hem öğretmen hem de öğrenciler açısından uygulanabilirliğinin oldukça yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca yaratıcı drama yönteminin öğrencilerin edindikleri bilginin kalıcılığını sağladığı, fen dersine karşı tutumlarını ve fen öğrenmeye karşı özyeterliklerini artırdığı görülürken, öğrencilerin bilimsel süreç becerileri üzerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı sayılabilecek düzeyde bir etkisinin olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda bu konuda ileride çalışma yapacaklara gerekli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
