IVTehSYSTEM MODELLING WITH NEURAL NETWORK ANDNEURO-FUZZY METHODSAli DURMUŞErciyes University, Graduate School of Natural and Applied SciencesM.S. Thesis, July 2005Thesis Supervisor: Assist. Prof. Nurhan KARABOĞAABSTRACTIn this thesis, the artificial neural network and the neuro-fuzzy network which is thecombination of neural network and fuzzy logic, has been applied to the linear systemsand nonlinear systems for system modelling. In Chapter 2, general information is given about system definition, model identification, modelling types and mathematical model structures. Linear and nonlinear systems areexamined. Basic information is given for the Least Mean Square (LMS) and RecursiveLeast Square (RLS), methods used for system modelling. In Chapter 3, the artificial nueral network (ANN), which is one of the artificialintelligence techniques and used system modelling is explained. Basic network andtraining structures are given. Also in this section, the application of the ANN to thesystem modelling has been presented. In Chapter 4, fuzzy logic and neuro-fuzzy networks are explained and fuzzy set, membership function and fuzzy inference systems are introduced. Also, the structure ofNeuro-fuzzy systems and application of this structure to the system modelling has beengiven. In Chapter 5, linear and nonlinear systems have been simulated by using ANN andNeuro-fuzzy network and their performances have been compared. The last section, simulation results are given. Keywords: System modeling, artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic, Neuro-fuzzynetwork.
