Records of the cases which were seen in the sharia courts until the 18th century were kept by the kadis (sharia judges) in the books called sharia registry. But following the turbulence in the central authority starting from the second half of the 18th century, the increase in public complaints made the work of the Imperial Council (Divȃn-ı Hümȃyȗn) difficult. In order to prevent this disorder, in 1742, the local registry application was introduced, the verdict registerswere formed and divided into three groups according to the subjects recorded at the Imperial Council. The book of financial verdict is the first one of these. Other two groups are; complaint verdict, in which the complaints of the public are recorded, and important verdict, in which the important subjects discussed in the Imperial Council are recorded. Records of each province were kept separately through the verdict registers formed with this new implementation, thus the follow-up of complaints was made easier. Another type of verdict registers(Ahkȃm Defteri) formed in this period is the verdict registersof Anatolia. The registers numbered 1, 4, 21, 32 which belong to Anatolian province constitute the main source of our thesis. Upon the classification of registers' records, it is observed that contents are mostly comprised of banditry, theft, usurpation, irregularities in institutions and intervention of personal property. Thanks to these registers which are of great importance in terms of social history, overall situation of Aydin district in the 18th century was attempted to be revealed, in accordance with the information obtained on the social structure in the period when the records were kept, the mostly complained subjects, human relations and daily lives of the people. XVIII. yüzyıla kadar şer'i mahkemelerde görülen davaların kayıtları kadılar tarafından şer'iye sicili adı verilen defterlere tutulmuştur. Ancak XVIII. yüzyılın ikinci yarısı itibariyle merkezi otoritenin sarsılmasının ardından halkın şikâyetlerindeki artış Divân-ı Hümâyûn'un işini zorlaştırmış, bu düzensizliğin önüne geçmek adına 1742 yılında mahalli kayıt uygulaması getirilmiş ve ahkâm defterleri oluşturulmuş olup Divân-ı Hümâyûn'da kaydedilen konulara göre 3 guruba ayrılmıştır. Mali konuların kaydedildiği ahkâm-ı maliye bunlardan ilkidir. Halkın şikâyetlerinin kaydedildiği ahkâm-ı şikâyet ve Divân-ı Hümȃyȗn'da görüşülen mühim konuların kayda geçirildiği ahkâm-ı mühimme diğer iki gurubu oluşturmaktadır. Bu yeni uygulamayla oluşan ahkâm defterleriyle birlikte her eyaletin kayıtları ayrı tutulmaya başlamış, böylelikle şikâyetlerin takibi kolaylaşmıştır. Bu dönemde oluşturulan ahkâm defterlerinden biride Anadolu ahkâm defterleridir. Anadolu eyaletine ait olan 1, 4, 21, 32 nolu defterler tezimizin temel kaynağını oluşturmaktadır. Defterlerde yer alan kayıtların tasnif edilmesi ile birlikte eşkıyalık, hırsızlık, gasp, kurumlarda yapılan usulsüzlükler, şahsi mülklere müdahale gibi muhtevȃların çoğunlukta olduğu görülmektedir. Sosyal tarih açısından büyük önem arz eden bu defterler sayesinde kayıtların oluşturulduğu dönemdeki toplum yapısı, halkın en çok şikâyet ettikleri konuların neler olduğu, insan ilişkileri ve insanların günlük yaşamları hakkında edinilen bilgiler doğrultusunda Aydın sancağının XVIII. yüzyıldaki genel durumu ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. ANAHTAR SÖZCÜKLER:Aydın Sancağı, Ahkâm Defteri, Osmanlı Devleti.
