The economists from Goldman Sachs forecasted at the beginning of twenty-first century that the BRICS, as the fastest-growing economies of our times, would soon overtake the six major hubs of global finance, production and technological innovation. Since then the rise of the BRICS as an emerging center of global and regional economic prominence has charted widespread attention. Scholars have been busy investigating the reasons behind their impressive economic development and whether such economic progress will yield political implications. The literature on BRICS tend to view them as a group of states that will never act as an alliance to challenge the global status-quo. To this view, their desire is to be included in, but not overthrow, the current international system. Against, this background this dissertation focuses on the current international order in hopes of providing a precise and inclusive account for the political as well as economic repercussions of the ascendant BRICS. As means of reasoning why these five, distinctly different, states have begun to act in coordination, insights from both Neo-realism and Institutional Liberalism will be infused into theoretical framework. The BRICS is almost completely lacks legal institutional framework, and to this far has declared few cherished objectives. This dissertation, leading from that frames BRICS as an informal institution that functions to provide certain collective goods, critically, with low cost. By looking at foreign policy of the individual BRICS members, study concludes that BRICS is aimed at assisting its constituent states to achieve the great power status. It is also hoped to help each five states to maintain stable economic expansion on the basis of their economic diversity. Finally, its members consider BRICS as a common platform to assert greater confidence in the continuing power bargain with the status quo powers. Other than generating these public goods, that are available for all member states regardless of contribution, BRICS also meets the private agendas of the each of the five nations.

Müşterek ürünlere ilaveten, BRICS aynı zamanda beş ülkenin her birinin özel gündemlerine uyum sağlamaktadır.
