In order to study whether these features of Mersin have effects on the development of food industry and food trade, export performances of food industry sectors, which include meat and meat products, cereals and cereal products, fruits and vegetables, various edible products, and tobacco and tobacco products, have been analyzed. Constant market share method has been used to evaluate export performances. Product composition effect, competition effect and market effect have been tested. The results of this study indicate that the growth rate of food industry (international) trade of Mersin has been higher than the growth rate of the world food trade mainly because of its price advantage. Keywords: Food industry, international trade, export performance, constant market share method.
