ABSTRACTDetermination of Postnatal Comfort and Satisfaction Levels of Puerperants According to the Types of BirthPurpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the puerperants' levels of postpartum comfort and satisfaction with the birth, according to the type of birth.Material and Method: The research was carried out in the Gynecology Clinic of Van Regional Training and Research Hospital, located in Van province in Turkey, between July and December, 2016. The universe of the study is formed by the puerperants that had a cesarean section or normal delivery at the relevant clinics of Van Regional Gynecology Hospital, which is located in Van province centre. The survey included the puerperants, 200 of whom had NSDs and 200 had CSs. Data were collected using `Survey Form`, `Postnatal Comfort Scale`, `Maternal Satisfaction Rating Scale at Normal Birth` and `Maternal Satisfaction Rating Scale at Cesarean Birth`. The data were evaluated in the (SPSS) 18 program pack. In the evaluation of the data, the percentage was used to examine the descriptive characteristics of the groups, and the chi-square test was used to compare the groups. Findings: In the study, it was determined that the mean total score of postnatal comfort scale (PCS) of vaginal delivery puerperal women was 3.58±0.35 and mean PCS total score of the cesarean puerperal women was 3.37±0.35.The mean PCS total score of puerperants who had NSD was found to be higher than those of CS, and the difference was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). 79.4% of vaginal delivery puerperants, 73.6% of cesarean delivery puerperants were found to be less satisfied, and the difference between the groups was not statistically significant (p>0.05).Conclusion: It was determined that the postnatal comfort of NSD patients was higher than that of CS patients and satisfaction levels were lower in both groups. Keywords: Type of Birth, Postnatal Comfort, Postnatal Satisfaction, Nurse.
