Purpose ; The patients that are treated by two different volar plate due to distal radius fracture compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes and to assess the effect of pronator quadratus muscle repair over wrist function.Method; 77 patients with distal radius fracture were treated by open reduction and volar locking plate. As locking plate , 39 patients were treated by distal radius volar locking plate which is newly developed and 38 patients were treated by the other plate which is currently in use ( Acu-loc). 3 patients who need re-operation because of complications weren't taken into the groups that examine the pronator quadrus muscle. 27 patients' pronator quadratus muscle repair were done while 50 patients weren't. Clinical results were evaluated by QDASH, range of motion and grip strength. For evaluation of the radiological results, Steward score was used. Additionally, the thickness of pronator quadrus muscle were recorded ultrasonographically. Results ; Whereas the QDASH scores, flexion, extention, pronation and supination differences of the facts that the plate belongs to Hipokrat Medical were used is statistically slightly higher than the facts that the plate belongs to Acu-Loc ; the duration of follow up of the plate which belongs to Hipokrat Medical is statistically slightly lower than the plate which belongs to Acu Loc. (p<0,05) The flexion difference of healthy and broken wrist of the patients which pronator quadrus muscle repair weren't done is statistically higher at significant level than the patients which pronator quadrus muscle repair done. (p<0,05) No significant relationship was found the other range of motions , QDASH scores, grip strength and radiological outcomes. Examining all of the patients,we found that reduction ın thickness of 15,4 % on the pronator quadrus muscle is detected. Conclusions; The good clinical and radiological results of newly developed volar locking plate show that it can be used safely on the treatment of distal radius fracture. The pronator quadratus muscle repair have no significant difference on the wrist joint range of motion, QDASH and grip stregnth. Whether it is repaired or not, an atrophy of 15.4% occurs.
