ABSTRACT According to classical pragmatists there exists a pragmatical dimension «within all religious orations. Likewise, they insist on the immanence of a pragmatical dimension within all scientific orations. Thus they have the idea that the pragmatical dimensions of the religious and scientific orations should procure the basis of the relationship of religion and science. Likewise, according to Peirce there exists an instinct within the basis of both religious and scientific beliefs which he calls as 'il lume naturale'. James bases religious beliefs on a 'religious sensation' whose scientific determination and explanation is possible. And Dewey accepted religious beliefs as true or false in the basis of their success in leading human towards 'social belief which' makes his higher growth posssible. On the other side, Peirce, moving from his doctrine called 'agapism', defends that a law of love which is the leading power of the growth and evolution process of every thing in the universe dominates the religious experience. But according to James, scientific discoveries come on the scene in the result of the investigations and activities of the scientists that they perform under the effect of their motives towards harmony, order, system, rule, principle, unity etc. For this reason, he used the religious experience which is based on positive and observable 'religious sensation' in the demonstration of the existence of God. On the other hand, Dewey had defended that 'the religious function of the religious experience' manifests itself in positive and observable 'religious behaviours' and its validity could be tested by the usefulness of these behaviours. Peirce, moving from his evolutional cosmology which he developed in the light of scientific data, disclosed a portrayal of creative God who is both transcendental and immanent. James had not shown consideration to theportrayal of God who had not taken the circumstances of human into consideration and for this reason he had taken both transcendence and immanence as characteristics of God. According to Dewey, as long as humans gain new knowledges by means of scientific disciplines, the abstruse * characteristics of God at the moment as a transcendental being will be at least less abstruse as time passes. As a conclusion, according to Peirce truth is not divided into two contrary doctrines as religion and science. In fact science cooperates with God's creative activity when it pursues new truths. Religion and science are doctrines which come from the same source and pursue the same goal. Thus, they have to be reconciled. James had tried to establish a 'religious science' which investigates true and useful religious knowledge. Dewey thought that traditional conventions have to be arranged again in our time of modern scientific era that evolution process guide and imposed us 'natural religion'.
