Developments with invention of plane and birth of aircraft industry as a new field are discussed both in technologic and socio-cultural aspects and with aviation structures in this study. In the first section of dissertation, introduction, literature search, purpose, method, scope and hypothesis are specified. In the second section of dissertation, efforts to fly of human beings throughout the history are discussed. There are myths and sociological imaginations. In 19th century, momentum was accelerated for making dream of flying real and subsequently, this dream has been realized in the beginning of 20th century. In this section, political tension in the world has also been emphasized in the early part of 20th century and the role and importance of new technology plane is briefly pointed out. The developments along with invention of plane in Europe and America and aircraft industry as a new field are discussed in philosophical, theoretical and practical aspects. Invention of plane in the West and belonging of scientific-technologic infrastructure to the West could not exclude this dissertation out of the West. Therefore, both symbolic significance and aviation architecture is reviewed in this section. In the third section, birth of aviation in Ottoman Empire and aircraft industry is studied. While Ottoman Empire was struggling with existence problems at the end of 19.century and in the early part of 20th century, plane was invented. The leading figures of management level of government and military could not be indifferent to new technology. Even though Ottoman Empire succeeded to establish `Aviation Organization` to military simultaneously with the West, it began to fall behind the West within a short period. This was related to challenging war environment in which the government was going through. In the fourth section of this dissertation, aircraft industry and aviation structures in Republic of Turkey which was reborn from the ashes of Ottoman Empire as a continuation of Ottoman State has been discussed for the years between 1923 and 1940. In this context, the subject matter covers both military, civil and government and private sector. Turkish Aircraft Society (T.Ta.C.) (its next name Turkish Aeronautical Association –THK), Kayseri Aircraft Factory, Türkkuşu, Vehici Hürkuş Aircraft Manufacturing Facilities and Nuri Demirağ Aircraft Factory are among the headings reviewed in this section. Hypothesis are assessed and researched within the framework of dissertation in order to make interferences in the conclusion section; and disjointed connections which have scarcely researched and considered are determined. Assessment of `aviation architecture` and `aviation culture` is assessed in the light of this information. Keywords: Aviation architecture, plane, seaplane, aircraft industrial buildings, civil and commercial aviation buildings in Turkey.
