Our purpose for preparing this study is to examine the factors related to chronic neck pain in the widest sense, and to compare these parameters between the groups by revealing its impacts on physical performance, posture and respiratory functions in this direction. For this purpose 80 volunteers in total, who are consisted of 40 patients between the ages of 18-60 applying to our polyclinic with the complaint of neck pain and having a pain story for 6 months or more and another 40 participants between the ages of 18-60 and not having a pain story in their musculoskeletal system, were involved in the study. The following are used in the study and the results are recorded: information form for the knowledge on the demographic features of the participants, visual pain scale and McGill Questionnaire in order to measure the pain level, manual muscle test device in order to measure the muscular force of neck and bilateral upper extremity, digital goniometer for measuring the neck joint range of motion measures, respiratory assessment for spirometric measurement, hand dynamometer for bilateral hand grip powers, physical performance battery with 5 sub-parameter for physical performance, Modified Sorensen Endurance test for measuring back extensor measurement, SF-36 Short form questionnaire for assessing the life quality, neck disability questionnaire for determining the disability level and visual posture analysis for posture analysis, and three-dimensional ultrasonic posture measurement device. Some statistical significant differences have been determined between the sick group with chronic neck pain and the healthy group participants in terms of muscular force, neck joint range of motion, respiratory functions, physical performance, life quality and posture analysis (p<0,05). It has been revealed in our study that chronic neck pain, muscular force, neck joint range of motion, disability, respiratory functions, posture and physical performances are factors effecting both each other and life quality and daily lives of people. Depending on these results, we have the opinion that chronic neck pain is a problem reducing the life quality, decreasing the physical and functional performance and creating disability, and for the treatment planning of this problem, all these factors need to be assessed from different perspectives, and the person needs treatment programs providing pain control, improving respiratory function, increasing the physical performance and functionality based on the probable consequences.Key Words: Chronic neck pain, respiratory functions, physical performance.
