Traditional medicine has come to exist in consequence of that the first human being looked for healing for various diseases by taking advantage of nature. For centuries, knowledge gained by means of experience and observation has been passed down from generation to generation via culture. The elements of cultural identity are kept in cultural memory with certain codes, symbols and signs. However, the transmission of the elements of culture encoded in cultural memory from generation to generation is provided by way of means such as tradition, ritual, ceremony. Rituals -with crisis resolving functions- rank among in traditional healing practices in symbolic and religious context. The symbolic content of the rituals contains many mythical elements, which are broad, stressed notices of common values and beliefs. Besides the symbols in healing rituals performed in order to revive invisible situation, activities with a visible or tangible symbol, and to rehabilitate them, the language of ritual, as a discourse or an expression in the semantic world of ritual, have a specific meaning in terms of its cultural, historical and metaphorical dimensions. The mind performing the ritual uses the objects within arm's reach and the words contain these objects during the performance; though this is not an ordinary choice, it contains a number of codes, signs and symbols belonging to cultural identity stored in cultural memory. In this context, it is tried to uncover the dynamics of the healing rituals' performance and their underlying repertoires of symbolic meaning in current academic studies / in the study. In this study, the healing rituals in Amasya region were associated with the historical context in which they were produced; the conceptualization forms of ritual symbols and the different forms of ritual performance were brought together and evaluated in terms of word, action and function. In the research, the process of creating qualitative data was carried out by methods such as `participant observation`, `in depth interview, `life narrations` and `observation`. The data of the study were obtained by watching the different performances of healing rituals. Rituals were narrated with a direct expression because the significant part of the explanations of the symbols had focused on the folk etymology and the ritual had formed part of the explanation of the symbol.
