After the Cold War, the world entered a rapid globalization process. The new phenomenon of terror, which started after this process and became even more apparent with the September 11 attacks, has come to hold a position that affects the whole world. In other words, terrorism has started to globalize. This phenomenon, called global terrorism, was mostly carried out after the September 11 terrorist attacks with reference to religion. Religious groups in many parts of the world have become affected by terrorism in this process. This study explored how officials from two universal religions (Islam and Christianity) affected by the phenomenon of global terrorism perceive global terrorism and how terrorist acts affect life in the field of religion. Additionally, the transformation of religious and social interactions between the religious groups within the context of this research due to the act of terrorism was also investigated. The theoretical basis of the study was designed based on Pierre Bourdieu's theory of fields because of the investigation of a change resulting from an intervention in the field of religion. In this context, as it is the intersection point of the religious groups discussed in the context of the study, Beyoglu district of Istanbul was chosen as the spatial limit of the study. The working group consisted of 16 religious officials (10 Muslims and 10 Christians) who were settled in Istanbul before 2003. The limit of the research in terms of action is the terrorist attacks carried out by al Qaeda in Istanbul in November 2003. This research, in which qualitative method was preferred as per its subject matter, was designed in a phenomenological design, and semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with 16 religious officials determined by criterion sampling. The data obtained from the interviews were interpreted with descriptive analysis technique. The main finding of the study is that the events were overcome thanks to a strong culture of coexistence and had relatively short-term effects on daily life practices. In attitude and consideration, however, the effects of the events were long-lasting and shaped the discourse of the participants; therefore, the conflict in the religious sphere was rejected and cooperation on social issues was supported. However, the existence of competition in the religious field continued after the events.
