The investigated area is located NW of Bolu and covers south half parts of Bolu G 27-a4 and G 26-b3 sheets of 1/25.000 scale map. In this study geology and tectonic structure of this area were studied in detail. The geological map af the area in 1/25.000 scale was prepared and geological cross-sections were drawn. The lithological units croping out in the area were investigated in detail and stratigraphy of the investigated area was identified. The stratigraphic units differentiated in the area from the bottom to top area as follows:The basement rocks in the area investigated consist of Precambrian aged Karadere Metamorfitleri. Abone his formation Ordovician-Lower Silurian aged Işığandere formation. Abone his formation are Ordovician-Lower Devonian aged Kocadere formation, Albian-Maastrichtian aged Hızardere formation, Maastrichtian aged Arkotdağı melange, Upper Maastrichtian-Paleocene-Lower Eocene aged Sarıkaya formation, Middle Eocene aged Çukurca formation, Pliocene aged Örencik formation and Quaternery aged alluvial deposits.Study area is located at the northern part of the Anatolian Fault Zone. There are two different main fault types in the area. These are ? thrust faults and strike-slip faults. It is obseved that strike-slip fault (tear fault) were developed during the late stages of thrust fault since they cut these faults.Analysing the measurement of the joint systems and bedding planes, it was concluded that the region has been influenced by NW-SE directed compression regime. This regime represents the neotectonical period which has started to affect the Turkey and vicinity since the beginning of Lower-Middle Miocene. This effects is still on process.Key Words: Bolu plain, Nort Anatolian Fault Zone, Geology.
