The main purpose of this study is to investigate if the system justification tendency and demographic variables (gender, old, academic achievement, income, socio-economic level, mother's educational level, father's educational level, political view, which newspaper reads (neutral, right-winged, left- winged)) predict the optimism and demographic variables predict the system justification tendency. For this purpose, firstly the relation of system justification tendency and optimism with demographic variables was examined. Another purpose of this study is conducted to examine the differences of which newspaper reads in terms of research variables. The study group consisted of 434 students, 282 of them were female and 152 of them were male, attending to different university in Ankara in 2018-2019 educational year. System Justification Scale, Optimism Scale and the Personal Information Form designed by the researcher were used to identify the system justification and optimism levels in the research. This study begins with questioning which variables predict the optimism and system justification tendency. For this purpose, it conducts multiple linear regression analysis with stepwise method. The result of this analysis points out that political view, gender, system justification considerably optimism; political view and mother's educational level considerably system justification tendency. Secondly, Point Biserial Correlation Analysis to determine the relationship between gender and optimism and with help of Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient to determine the relationship between the other variables. ANOVA was used to determine whether system justification and optimism differed in terms of which newspaper reads. In the study, it was seen that female were more optimistic than male and academic achievement increased as the level of system justification and optimism increased. It was found that as the socioeconomic level decreased and as the political view approached to the left. Also the political view approached to the right, the level of system justification and optimism increased. It has been found that as the system justification tendency increases, the score of optimism increases. Political view, gender and system justification predicted the optimism. Mother's educational level and political view predicted system justification tendency. It was seen that students reading neutral and right-winged newspapers justification the system more than left-winged newspaper readers, and those who read right-winged newspaper were more optimistic than left-winged newspaper readers.
