The Customs Union was established between Turkey and the European Union on January 1, 1996. The Custom Union process between Turkey and the European Union has always been perceived as a membership step. However, the structural problems of the Customs Union between Turkey and the European Union emerged after the changes in global economy. Inaccurate treaty content, asymmetric treaty framework and insufficient to respond to the changing global dynamics have been accepted as major problems. Free Trade Agreement, which is aimed to increase competitiveness level of the European Union against shifting global dynamics in particular and revised the EU's Common Trade Policy and Strategy Documents in order to remove the negative influences of the 2008 Economic and Financial Crisis, has been damaging the Customs Union process. In this regard, the necessity of modernising the Customs Union between Turkey and European Union has been put forward by the academicians, business leaders and politicians in order to comply with changing global dynamics which includes becoming functional and flexible, increasing its scope, rising its benefits, removing structural problems, optimizing the integration processThe main goal of this study is to explain the problems caused by the deficiencies during functioning process of the Customs Union between Turkey and the European Union in the light of changes in global economy and economic transformations of globalization and to revise solutions providing dynamism for the economies of both sides of the Customs Union via investigating the solution offers against these deficiencies.
