Wind energy has become one of the most developed, and an attractive sector in the last decades. There are some different wind turbine designs present in the industrial operations. Wind turbine technology has become one of the most significant engineering objects for the production of renewable energy. In this thesis, the design and analysis of the rotor hub of the first national wind turbine was completed. The most innovative part of this project is to design the rotor hub according to static and fatigue criteria, and also the design of manholes on the hub surface for the first time. The work was accomplished by several numerical methods and computer codes. The methodology for the solution process was completed via finite element methods. The design part of the project is done by Solid works and static and fatigue analyses are accomplished by the finite element codes COMSOL, ANSYS and SAMCEF. Beside the static, fatigue and modal analysis of the system, shape optimization of the rotor hub is performed by ANSYS software to reduce the weight. Moreover, in this thesis project, additional work is considered for the automatic pitch angular position system for blades. In the content of the additional work, selection of the slew bearing that connects the wing and rotor is done. The selection process is completed based on the inertial torques that is calculated for the slew bearings. In order to supply the required angular positioning of the wings, selection of the pitch motor mechanisms are completed by calculating required torque, power and reduction stages for the actuators. The strength analyses of the structure are conducted under full static and dynamic loadings. Under these conditions, the safety factors that are stated in the IEC 64100-1 standards are achieved with respect to both static and dynamically. As a consequence; weight is reduced by 40 % for the first national wind turbine rotor hub design for safe operation. Keywords: IEC 64100-1, Safety Factor, Blade, Rotor Hub, Wind Turbine, Static and Fatigue.
