Georgia, who is a neighbor of Turkey on the north-eastern border and lived for centuries under different governments, gained the status of an independent state after leaving the USSR. After 1991, which is the year of independency, the Republic of Georgia searched for ways of economic recovery in addition to political problems. The political and economic independence of Georgia and the loss of Russia's regional dominance made Georgia an important market for Turkey. In this respect, Turkey developed its economic, political and social relations with Georgia. In this study, primarily the current situation and development trend of the Georgian economy after 1991 was investigated. Then, the foreign trade analysis between Turkey and Georgia was conducted with the help of a questionnaire developed. These questionnaires were administrated in Artvin, which is a neighbor city of Georgia. The questionnaire was administrated on 86 companies affiliated with Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union. 6 questionnaires were excluded due to the missing information and 80 questionnaires were included to be evaluated in the study. The information obtained were analyzed by SPSS 20 software. According to the results, the most important problem between Turkey and Georgia is the lack of infrastructure in trade. The most important reason to do trade with Georgia is early entry into this market. Georgian businessmen seem reluctant to develop partnerships with Turkish people. The most important country in trade of the region is Iran. As a result, although the economy and market of Georgia is not very large, it has a strategic importance for Turkey.
