Özet

The formation of the space and the `contemporary` -last condition- formation by the dynamics of the historical, economical, social, political also create his own consciousness in these variety of his dynamics. The condition and the result of the space's transformation and his change add in parallel the transformation of the society, on account of the result of it. The space transforms to the society so that legitimate language / discourse in this process, the effect of the discourse is quite large in the society. The subjects of the thesis -which are discussed basically about the pilot urban regeneration project in Fikirtepe- are the space, the society depended and mobilized by this space and the dominant discourse (before the transformation and during the transformation) of this space which is used to give a shape to Fikirtepe.According to the city to locate and explain modernity -the base of the city - , the slum is to show a disturbing concept works, such as areas of traditional structures. The city produces itself and becomes a commodity. In that case, I wanted to tell through the sample Fikirtepe which it takes place to change the perception of the city and also in the perception of the citizens with the mentality of ` global market`.Keywords: The city, The Urban Transformation, Urban Space, Reproduction of Space, Discourse of the Icon, the consciousness of the society.
