The present study includes a bibliographic catalogue, which is referred to the Cristian churches of the Western Thrace. The catalogue has been formulated through research to scientific books, university studies, cultural and touristic guides and internet websites. The study tries to record and imprint namely all churches of the prefectures of Western Thrace, Evros, Rhodope and Xanthi (including the island of Samothrace), that belongs to Byzantine and post- Byzantine period. Unfortunately, in many cases there are just a few bibliographical references or just a unique. The recording of bibliographical references of the churches of Western Thrace is problematic, because the sources are limited and there is not a bibliographical guide, until now, for this geographical area regarding Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches.During the researching process of the present bibliographical catalogue, it was noted that most of the references were related to the bigger and central churches (which are located to bigger cities), comparing to the references of regional smaller temples, despite their religious and cultural value. Also, it must be highlighted that during research too many mistakes and inaccuracies were found, not only to travel and touristic guides and books, but also to scientific publications. For the present study, the recording of the bibliography is presented by monument and area, in order to be given a concrete image of the Cristian religious monuments of the Western Thrace and at the same time, at each part of the area separately. In this way, it has been created a bibliographic catalogue, which can be further enriched easily, as well as an entry can be easily foundThe bibliography recording regarding the issue of the present study can be constantly renewed and enriched.
