Özet

In this thesis, astronomical phenomena causing differences between true coordinates and visual places of stars are studied generally. In this content Sunrise and Sunset times are computed as an application. In these computations, the effects of astronomical events such as refraction, Sun's radius, height, parallax, precession, nutation and aberration on the times of Sunrise and Sunset are investigated. However, the effects of topographic and meteorological conditions varying according to the observation site are also emphasized. In the thesis, adding the effects of the astronomical events, the calculations of the times of Sunrise and Sunset are compared with observations. In this comparison, it is seen that the magnitude of the differences depends on height of the horizon changing according to observation site. It is also seen that there is a difference between the sunrise/sunset calculations made in this thesis and the almanac results (The Astronomical Almanac). We think that the main reason of this difference is in our opinion the variable topography and atmospheric conditions.
