This thesis study aims to compare performance of 30 type-A mutual funds of the 60-month period between January 2013 and December 2017 operating in Turkey. In this respect, the study is composed of 4 sections. In the first section, teorical information about mutual funds is given, in the second section, the methods that are used to evaluate mutual funds are described, in the third section, literature review is given and in the final section, performance of Type –A mutual funds are compared. In this study, monthly data regarding a whole of 30 type-A mutual funds that were permanently active in the period between January 2013 and December 2017,which weren't merged with another fund and liquidated, and have uninterrupted data, were used. In addition, 30type-A mutual funds are classified into three groups of 10 variable mutual funds, 10 gold mutual funds and 10 stock mutual funds in the analysis. In order to compare performance of the Type –A mutual funds, Sharp, Treynor and Jensen indexes methods are applied. Results of the study show that while stock mutual funds have both higher risk and higher return, variables mutual funds have both lower risk and lower returns. The results also show that according to the performance indexes, Sharpe index indicates that while stock mutual funds have the highest performance, variable mutual funds have the lowest performance, Treynor index indicates that while variable mutual funds have the highest performance, stock mutual funds have the lowest performance and the Jensen index indicates that while stock mutual funds have the highest performance, variable mutual funds have the lowest performance.

Bu tez çalışması, Türkiye'de faaliyet gösteren toplam 30 adet A tipi yatırım fonunun, Ocak 2013-Aralık 2017 yılları arasında 60 aylık dönemdeki performanslarını karşılaştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu doğrultuda çalışma 4 bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde, yatırım fonları ile ilgili genel bilgi verilmekte, ikinci bölümde, yatırım fonlarının performans ölçümünde kullanılan yöntemler tanıtılmakta, üçüncü bölümde, literatür taraması yapılarak son bölümde, A tipi yatırım fonlarının performansları karşılaştırılmaktadır.
