During the study, the applicability of the teaching plans developed by the creative drama method was questioned as well. In line with the aim of the study, the embedded design, which is one of the mixed method research designs where both quantitative and qualitative research methods are used in combination, was applied. In the quantitative dimension of the study, experimental model with pretest-posttest control group was adopted; in the qualitative dimension, case study was used. Through quantitative data, the creative drama method's effect on reading and writing skills of students was tried to be determined. On the other hand, the qualitative data were used to question how the teaching processes created with creative drama method affects students and what the strong and weak sides of the process are. The research group of the study consisted of 50 students at 7th grade in Şehit Ali İhsan Lezgi Secondary School in Pursaklar District, the city of Ankara in the Academic Year 2016-2017. At the beginning of the study, the Personal Information Form was distributed to the students; then, the Reading and Writing Skills Test was applied to reveal the experimental and control group students' status of the reading and writing skills. During the study, the experimental group participated in creative drama teaching processes which lasted for 32 hours. In this process, the teaching plans based on reading and writing learning outcomes were implemented in accordance with the physical capabilities of the school where the study was conducted. After the 14 weeks of creative drama implementations, the final test was carried out with the experimental and control group students. In order to determine the students' thoughts about creative drama teaching processes, an Evaluation Workshop was set up with the experimental group. At the end of the study, the students' letters, their reading, writing, and creative drama definitions, the teacher diary, and the standardised open ended interview results where the qualitative data were acquired were evaluated with the Reading and Writing Skills test where the quantitative data were received. The quantitative data of the study were analyzed by the program SPSS and descriptive analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data. As a result of the study, it was determined that the test scores of the experimental group students who participated in the teaching processes created by using creative drama method increased and this increase was significant. In the Evaluation Workshop conducted with the experimental group, the students' views on creative drama process were assessed under the topics of the Strong Sides of Creative Drama and the Weak Sides of Creative Drama. The experimental group students expressed that their skills of working in cooperation, impersonation, knowing himself / herself and others, writing improved; also, they gained self-confidence and their vocabulary upgraded during the creative drama. The students stated that creative drama provided knowledge and skills on different subjects and could be related to many courses. The experimental group students' bias against creative drama and working in cooperation and their negative thoughts about the activity process were handled under the topic of the weak sides of creative drama. The experimental group students offered suggestions as making creative drama implementations in a longer period of time, not extending of impersonations in the process unnecessarily, making implementations in a wider and brighter place. When the results of the study and the process passed with the students were evaluated, it was concluded that the teaching process created by using creative drama method improved the reading and writing skills and it is applicable. Accordingly, it is suggested to increase the qualifications of teachers for using the creative drama method, to eliminate the physical deficiencies of schools for the realization of learning activities by making-experiencing, and to integrate the activities which will direct students to work in cooperation into teaching process.
