The Disney Company is the first to come to mind when it comes to animation movies and is the oldest animation company in history. Disney reflects the socio-economic and cultural conditions of the time with the stories it has produced since its foundation in 1923. It successfully shapes its audience in the context of these practices. Princess narratives are indispensable for the company from the first example, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), to the last, Moana (2016). Disney's princess narratives, devised as fairy tales, can be categorized by three periods: classical (1937-1959), transition (1989-1998) and postmodern (2009-...), parallel to the company's evolution. From classical to the postmodern period, the representation of gender roles in Disney films slightly changes. This change in Disney's representations is not `innocent` or coincidental though. Disney, an important part of the `cultural capitalism` that holds an important place in the popular fashions, seeks to be `consumable` and also adapts its audience to the needs of the given culture with the narrative arrangements developed every period. This study, which analyzes Disney's work that is associated with capitalist ideology in the context of semiotics in terms of gender construction in princesses' narratives according to the periods, aims to contribute to the literature that deals with the popular culture in the context of representation issue.
