ABSTRACT Ph.D Thesis SYNTHESIS AND INVESTIGATION ON THE COMPLEXES OF THIO- AND SELENOPHOSPHINIC ACIDS Ertuğrul Gazi SA?LAM Ankara University Graduate School of Natural andApplied Sciences Department of Chemistry Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Hamza YILMAZ In this study, the ammonia salts of alkly p-methoxyphenyldithiophosphinic acids [(H3CO-C6H4)(R)P(S)S`NH4+; R = iso-C5H9, iso-C4H9, sec-C^, ] were prepared. Dithiophosphinic acid was synthesized by the reactions of Grignard Compounds with Lawesson's Reagents (LR). The acids were isolated as their ammonia salts. These salts let to formation of the L2M type and four-coordinated neutral Ni2+ and Co2* complexes. In addition, six-coordinated Ni2+ complexes with pyridine were prepared. Ni2+ complexes were found to be in square-planar and octahedral geometry while Co2+ complexes were tetrahedral. The structure of dithiophosphinic acid salts and their complexes were elucidated by elemental analyses, NMR, FTIR, X-ray crystallography techniques and magnetic susceptibility measurements. 2004,183 pages Key Words: Dithiphosphinic Acid, Dithiophosphinate, Dithiophosphinate complexes, Phosphinodithioic Acid, Nickel(II) complexes, Cobalt(II) complexes.

ÖZET Doktora Tezi TİYO- VE SELENOFOSFÎNÎK ASİTLERİN VE KOMPLEKSLERİNİN ARAŞTIRILMASI Ertuğrul Gazi SAĞLAM Ankara Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Kimya Anabilim Dalı Danışman: Prof. Dr. Hamza YILMAZ Bu çalışmada alkil p- metoksifenilditiyofosfınik asitlerinin [ (H3CO-C6ELt)(R)P(S)S` NH4+; R = İZO-C5H9, İZO-C4H9, sek-GtHç, ] amonyum tuzlan sentezlendi. Ditiyofosfinik asit, Lawesson reaktifiyle [ 2,4 - bis(p-metoksifeniı) - 1,3,2,4 - ditiyodifosfetan - 2,4 - disülfür ] Grignard Bileşiklerinin reaksiyonundan sentezlendi. Bu asitler, amonyum tuzu şeklinde izole edildi. Amonyum tuzlarından nötral ortamda, Ni2+ ve Co2+ ile L2M tipinde dört koordinasyonlu kompleksler sentezlendi. Nikel komplekslerinin ayrıca piridinle altı koordinasyonlu kompleksleri sentezlendi. Nikel komplekslerinin kare düzlem ve oktahedral koordinasyonda, Co2+ komplekslerinin tetrahedral koordinasyonda olduğu bulundu.
