A STUDY OF THE STRESS LEVELS OF WORKING MOTHERS ON THE ANXIETY LEVEL OF THEIR CHILDRENABSTRACTParticularly recently, by getting rid of traditional roles of women in our culture and along with starting to take place in working life, new ones are added to their roles and responsibilities as well as mother, housewife, working mother and business women. Working women are often exposed to a lot of stress under these burdens, while trying to maintain the balance between their roles and responsibilities in business, and the definition and responsibility of maternity that ascribed by their society (Gürkan ve Yaşar, 2015).In this context, the level of stress that the working mother will experience due to these roles may affect the child's behavior and the level of anxiety.Correlational survey model was used in this study in which the effects of perceived stresses of working mothers on state and trait anxiety. The target population of the study consists of 230 students aged between 9 and 12 who were educated in private schools in Istanbul and their working mothers. Perceived Stress Scale for working mother and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAI) was applied to children. It was investigated whether there was a significant difference between the perceived stress of working mothers with age, educational status, income status, number of children and working time; the state and trait anxiety status of the children and the age, gender, the level of education they attend and the pre-school education. As a result of this study, it was found that there was a significant, negative and weak relationship between the perceived stress of mothers and the trait anxiety. Additionally, it was found that there was a significant, positive and weak relationship between the state anxiety perceived by the children and the trait anxiety. According to the results of multiple linear regression analysis, to determine how children perceive the state and trait anxiety of their mothers, state anxiety and trait anxiety situations reveal a significant relationship with the perceived stress of mothers. The state-trait anxiety experienced by the children explained 16% of the stress experienced by the mothers and 16% of the stress experienced by the mothers was determined by the state-trait anxiety perceived by the mothers and 84% by the other variables. Keywords: Working Woman, Stress, Overcoming the Stress, Anxiety.
