With the development of digital signal processing integrated circuits (DSPIC) instead of conventional methods variety of algorithms have been developed and used in control systems. In this thesis, the speed of a DC motor (30 V; 2A; 3100 rpm) was controlled using an adaptive neuro-Fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The system was primarily simulated in Matlab© environment, and afterward was realized by embedding the soft computer program into a DSPIC as the controlling system. In the training phase of the ANFIS, the output error and the error evolution were used as the input parameters while the output of the PID controller used as the desired reference output for the designed ANFIS system. The trained ANFIS system was first tested for controlling the speed of the DC motor in the Matlab environment and afterward the developed ANFIS algorithm was embedded into the DSPIC which is widely used in the automation media and the speed of the DC motor was controlled.Through the designed embedded system, the speed of the motor was controlled by driving the MOSFET current driver in the hardware circuit by the pulse width modulated (PWM) signal produced by ANFIS. The performance of the systems were all analyzed and compared together.KEYWORDS: ANFIS, DC Motor, PID, training data, Fuzzy Logic, Neural Network, Digital Signal Processor, dsPic30f2010.
