In this study, the relationship between design and aesthetic perception, the role of aesthetics, the variability of perception, and the role of the factors which constitute the aesthetic perception are examined through the architectural design which is one of the sub-areas of design. The impact of the aesthetic perception on architectural design will be discussed in the five sections; namely, 'Introduction', 'Overview of Concepts', 'Design and Aesthetic Perception Relation', 'Design and Relation in the Architecture of Turkey' and 'Conclusion'.In 'Introduction' chapter, a brief description of the subject is given, while the aim, scope and the method are explained. In Chapter 2, 'Overview of the Concepts', the concepts of aesthetics, perception and design have been examined and their definitions are discussed. In Chapter 3, ''Design and Aesthetic Perception Relation', the process of product development was examined in relation to the design performance and the impetus in the product development process was investigated. The role and importance of aesthetics in the development process of the product are examined together with the interdependent and interrelated process of aesthetics in both production and consumption process. In this section where the objective and subjective approaches to aesthetics are expressed and the importance of aesthetic awareness for the individuals and the society was emphasized. The development of the concept of perception and its role in the process of aesthetic comprehension is also investigated. Furthermore, the relationship between liking/appreciation which is an aesthetic value of judgement and perception, and the structure of perception that can place the objective and subjective basis of liking/appreciation are examined. The effect of aesthetic perception on design and aesthetic perception factor in architectural design were discussed. In Chapter 4, 'Design and Aesthetic Perception Relation in the Architecture of Turkey', different periods of Architecture in Turkey and the examples from these periods were reviewed. The Aesthetic Perception changes in the aesthetic perception were explained by selecting a sample of each period. The role of these changes in architectural design were described. In order to empirically examine the aesthetic perception phenomenon in architecture, a questionnaire including 17 questions was conducted with 60 people. The participants were divided into two groups as the architecture students, and the architect to investigate the differences in perception between these groups. In the Conclusion chapter, the collected data is utilitized to assert that the aesthetic perception is one of the most important factors in the design process. Since it is related to the geographic, cultural and socio-structural background of the participants, they have some subjective aspects. However, their objective side is more dominant because along with the changing digital world, the distances among the individuals had been shortened. As a result, the culture has become more homogenous; therefore, the aesthetic judgments are shared commonly compared to the previous eras.
