İmran Kandeğer, İnvestigation of the effect of respiratory and posture exercises in adolescent girls with kyphotic postüre, Hasan Kalyoncu University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Master's thesis Gaziantep 2020. Kyphotic posture is a spine problem that is common in adolescent girls and if it cannot be prevented by creating exercise awareness, it may cause more serious posture disorder in older ages. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of respiratory and posture exercises on kyphosis in adolescent girls with kyphosis. The study included 40 girls aged 11-14 years with postural kyphosis (mean age: 12.55 ± 0.71 years). Individuals were decided by examining their postures during physical activity in physical education lessons and by evaluating their sitting habits. Individuals were divided into 2 groups by randomization method as respiratory and posture exercise group (n = 20) and posture exercise group (n = 20). The numbers of the individuals were determined based on the studies in the literature. In order to evaluate the anterior tilt of the head, individuals measured between the tape measure and C7-wall, the flexruler and C7-T12 sagittal curvature was measured to evaluate the thoracic segment, and their inspirations were inspected with a respiratory exercise device to evaluate the respiratory capacity. In addition, the amount of balls remaining in the air during inspiration was also taken into account. All evaluations were made at the beginning and at the end of the 8th week. Respiratory and posture group performed 3 different breathing and 5 different posture exercises as home exercise 3 days a week for 8 weeks. Exercises were determined to take an average of half an hour. The posture group did only 5 different posture exercises as home exercise for 3 days a week for 8 weeks. Both groups performed the exercises with 1 set of 15 repetitions per day, with a goal of medium intensity exercise training, with a 1-minute break between each exercise. When the data at the beginning and at the end of the 8th week were examined, a statistically significant difference was found in the distance between C7-wall and flexruler measurement (p<0.05). Anterior tilt of the head and sagittal curvature in the thoracic segment were observed to be decreased (p<0.05). An improvement trend was observed in inspiration measurement, but there was no statistically significant difference (p> 0.05). It was observed that there was no change in the number of balls held in the air in inspiration measurement. As a result; This study showed that adolescents with kyphotic postures are more effective than posture exercises.
