Özet:

The Arctic is one of the regions most affected by global climate change and is changing very rapidly. This change in the Arctic region is becoming a human security issue, both in terms of environmental pollution and the livelihoods and cultures of indigenous peoples. It is necessary to evaluate the Arctic issue within the framework of a human security approach. This study focuses on indigenous peoples lifestyles, livelihoods and environmental degradation in the Arctic region through a human security approach. The study focuses on the human security approach that emerged after the transformation of the traditional security approach. As a result of the expansion and deepening of security studies, the relationship between climate change, environmental pollution and environmental degradation with the human security approach has been revealed. Analyzing the strategy documents of the member states of the Arctic Council, the article discusses the strategies of these countries towards the region and the importance they attach to environmental security, which is a component of the human security approach. Using qualitative research methods, the information obtained in the study was subjected to descriptive and interpretive analysis.
