Özet:

The Turkish War of Independence was an all-out war in which many commanders, officers and privates demonstrated remarkable acts of self-sacrifice. The most important sources of the struggle that lasted for about three years are archive documents containing the correspondence made during the war, official publications of institutions such as the army and the parliament, and those reflected in the press of the period. In addition to these, the notes and oral narrations of commanders, officers and soldiers who experienced the Turkish War of Independence in the war front are also very important for understanding this period. Especially the memoirs that reveal the human dimension of the events experienced in all its nakedness, contain the moral and social details of the Turkish War of Independence. In addition to the technical and political narrations of the war, they present a different dimension for those who to read and want to learn later about the struggles given in terms of war and humans. The memoirs in question belongs to a veteran of the Turkish War of Independence from Samsun. The twenty-five page memoir, which also includes observations of the day when Mustafa Kemal Pasha arrived in Samsun on May 19, 1919, covers the time period from the struggle against the Greek gangs in Samsun to when his weapon with companions reached Izmir in September 1922. This work contains Ahmed Naci Efendis memoir entitled From Samsun to Izmir and an interview with Necmeddin Necmi Cihan about his father.
