Özet:

Since oral history has the power to change our view of the past to a great extent, it can sometimes aim to repair the past, or it can sometimes involve blaming the past from the present. Oral history studies based on blaming the past can circulate a language that is critical but far from reality and an oppositional discourse adorned with this language. However, such discourses have the capacity to produce new victimizations. Islamist circles claim that the modernisation policies of the Republic of Turkey produced victimisation. The literature produced in these circles has maintained its vitality until today and some authors have chosen the events of this period as their field of study. Hasan Hüseyin Ceylan and Mustafa Öcals oral history studies are the main subject of this article. In the article, how the witnesses perceived and narrated the changes such as the abolition of the sultanate and the caliphate, the closure of tekkes, the adoption of Latin letters and the Turkishisation of worship will be presented, as well as a discourse analysis of the language dominating these narratives and the meaning that is intended to be created.
