Özet:

Since Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan became independent in 1991, The issue related to Turkish-Armenian border has been one of the important issues in South Caucasus and various regional and global actors are interested in it. However, the issue had been discussed in the context of only Turkish-Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and other states perspectives were ignored. This article focuses on the perspective of Western states towards the Turkish-Armenian border and its transformation process from neorealist perspective and benefitted from content analysis mainly based on secondary resources and internet news agencies. Western states suggested the opening of Turkish-Armenian border after the Georgian Crisis in 2008 as an alternative of Turkish-Georgian-Azerbaijani corridor and encouraged the process. However, Turkish and Armenian public and Azerbaijan forced the cancellation of the process and the West began to focus on Georgia again after 2012. Thus, this border became forgotten border. On the other hand, due to the rise of Russian-Western tension, the West started to support Turkish-Armenian negotiation process actively for energy security and lessening Russian influence over the Caucasus and supports the opening of the Turkish-Armenian border for Armenias integration into the Western block.
