Özet:

Ottoman waqfs main task was to provide many public services to the Ottoman society. Waqfs, which performed many duties from education to health, from social security to religious and public works, to social aid, became institutions of great importance for the Ottoman society. Paper aims to examine waqfs through Verdicts Registers, which are selected archival sources. 677 provisions were examined. When the sources are examined, it was seen that waqfs affect the social life as economic, finance and social at the end of XVIIIth century and at the beginning of XIXth century, as before. Finally, it is also confirmed that waqfs are institutions that affected the Ottoman society as economic, finance and social by Verdicts Registers until waqfs were connected to the Ministry of Evkaf and their controls were unified.
