Özet:

While new inscriptions are being found about the Turkic Runic letter texts, new reading and interpretation attempts are also being made about the previous inscriptions. For this reason, the number of studies on these texts is now expressed in the thousands. A significant part of the Old Turkic inscriptions with Turkic Runic letters are located within the borders of the Mountainous Altai Republic of the Russian Federation. Studies on the inscriptions of this region are very few compared to the inscriptions of other regions. One of the most important reasons for this is the difficulty of reaching the region and the lack of sufficient materials such as photographs by researchers. However, in recent years, new studies have been published on the inscriptions of this region. In particular, the catalogue published by Larissa N. Tıbıkova, İrina A. Nevskaya and Marcel Erdal in 2012 helped to increase the work on the inscriptions of this region. This article presents a new reading and interpretation of the Kuray II Inscription, known as number A 5, which is one of the Mountainous Altai Republic inscriptions. This reading and interpretation will also help develop new ideas for the controversial location of the first line of the southern face of stone I of the Tonyukuk Inscription. In the article, it will be demonstrated through discussions that the first form of the word Ocak was derived from this inscription.
