Özet:

In this study, the party system in Turkey has been analyzed through the criteria of Duverger and Sartori, two pioneers in classifying party systems studies. Duverger has focused on the number of parties, the most used method in the classification of party system today, and made a category as a single party, two parties and multiple parties. On the other hand, Sartori argued that the category made on this traditional distinction needed to be revised, considered the parties capabilities in including the parties in the census, and added sub-categories by developing new methods. In this study, the Turkish party system was examined periodically. It has been seen that the Turkish party system has experienced different evaluations by varying the periods. The alliance blocks that emerged after the 2017 Constitutional amendment has brought a new practice to Turkish politics. Although the power struggle generally occurs between the alliance blocs components, the main determining role in this process is shaped around the strongest parties in the alliance.
