Özet:

The 2014 annexation of Crimea is one of the main problems of Ukraine and Russia, which has its roots in the past. The 2014 invasion deepened the problems and led to the war between Russia and Ukraine, which started on February 24, 2022, and is still ongoing. Thousands of people have become refugees and lost their lives in both the annexation of Crimea and the Ukraine-Russia War. In addition, all these negativities brought about by the war are also published in media. The press plays an important role in revealing historical and political events and facts related to the status of Crimea. During the escalation of events in Crimea, the Ukranian press tries to respond to the Russian information. Likewise, the Russian press responds to the news of the Ukrainian press. In a way, this reveals that the media dimension of the war is also continuing on a tense line. This study comparatively analyzes the news directly related to the annexation of Crimea in the Russian and Ukrainian press. Although wars take place on the ground, the parties to the war use the power of the media both to explain themselves to their own societies and to explain themselves to the societies of the world. In order to better understand the annexation of Crimea, a literature review was conducted on the situation before the annexation and the process leading to the annexation. Within the scope of the research, the reflections of the annexation of Crimea in the Russian and Ukrainian media were analyzed in depth through content analysis, and some inferences were tried to be drawn about the way both countries presented the war.
