Özet:

This study aims to evaluate the architecture and ornamental program of the Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque through an eclectic approach. Combining traditional Turkish-Islamic architecture with modern architectural techniques and materials, the mosque incorporates Ottoman and Seljuk motifs in a contemporary context. However, occasional shortcomings in achieving aesthetic harmony have been observed. The study examines the mosques plan layout, structural elements, materials and techniques, and decorative features, focusing on how historical references are applied in a modern framework. The methodology is based on a literature review and architectural analysis. The findings indicate that while the mosque provides a spacious and well-lit environment suitable for modern needs, it struggles to create a strong synthesis between traditional and modern elements. Features such as celi sülüs calligraphy, star motifs, and the marble mihrab strongly reflect traditional aesthetic values. However, the integration of modern touches is highlighted as an area requiring more creative solutions. Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque stands as a significant example at the intersection of traditional and modern architecture, offering a unique perspective on the eclectic approach in mosque design.
