Özet:

The Black Sea coastline was established in the region where Russia competed with the Ottoman Empire to dominate the North Caucasus in the 18th-19th centuries. The struggle for dominance in the Caucasus was based on the geopolitical-military-commercial-theocratic-demographic competition and border security of the two regional powers over the Caucasian tribes. With the coastline, Russia severed the commercial-political ties between the Ottoman-Caucasian tribes. Russia prevented the unification of the Caucasian tribes and exiled them. It changed the demographics of the region by replacing those who left with its own population. The military fortresses established along the line turned into port cities and settlements. The study, which uses the historical analysis method, aims to examine the Ottoman-Russian struggle and the function of the military fortresses that developed over the Caucasian indigenous peoples. As a result of the study, it was understood that the demographic structure in the region changed in favor of Russia.

Karadeniz Kıyı Hattı, Rusyanın Kuzey Kafkasyaya hâkim olmak için Osmanlı Devleti ile 18-19. yüzyılda rekabete girdiği bölgede kurulmuştur. Kafkasyaya hakimiyet mücadelesi iki bölgesel gücün Kafkas kabileleri üzerinden ortaya koyduğu jeopolitik-askeri-ticari-teokratik-demografik rekabetine ve sınır güvenliğine dayanmıştır. Kıyı Hattıyla Rusya, Osmanlı-Kafkas kabileleri arasındaki ticari-siyasi bağı koparmıştır. Rusya, Kafkas kabilelerinin birleşmesini engellemiş ve onları sürgün etmiştir. Gidenlerin yerlerine kendine taraftar nüfusu yerleştirerek bölgenin demografisini değiştirmiştir. Hat boyunca kurulan askeri kaleler, liman kentlerine, yerleşim yerlerine dönüşmüştür. Tarihsel analiz yönteminden faydalanan çalışma, Osmanlı-Rus mücadelesini ve Kafkas yerli halkları üzerinden gelişen askeri kalelerin işlevini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma sonucunda bölgede demografik yapının Rusya lehine değiştiği anlaşılmıştır.
