Özet:

Abstract: This article examines the historical origins of relations between Turkish and Scandinavian peoples during Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages, highlighting how these interactions shaped the socio-cultural landscape of Eastern and Northern Europe. Beginning with the Huns first contact with the Goths, it demonstrates how Turkish-Scandinavian relations expanded during the Viking Age to include Turkish communities such as the Khazars, Pechenegs, and İdil Bulgars. The leadership practices, artistic motifs, and military technologies introduced by the Huns left lasting impressions on the Goths and Scandinavian societies. Archaeological findings in Scandinavia, genetic traces, and narratives from Scandinavian sagas emphasize the cultural and political dimensions of these interactions. The Vikings established intense economic and cultural exchanges with Turkish peoples through trade routes. Arguing that the origins of Turkish-Scandinavian relations should be dated back to at least the Hunnic period, the article highlights the transregional and transformative impact of these connections on cultural and political landscapes.
