Özet:

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrecs works, reflecting the art and entertainment life of late 19th and early 20th-century Paris, encapsulate the social and cultural dynamics of the period. This article aims to address the artistic and social dimensions of female figures in the artists works; it examines the relationship between entertainment culture and art, focusing especially on the representation of the dancer Jane Avril. In the study, the representation of the female figure in Henri de Toulouse-Lautrecs works produced with the lithography technique is analyzed, especially through the example of Jane Avril. In this qualitative research, the artists lithographs are analyzed through iconographic and descriptive analysis methods and interpreted through the formal characteristics, postures, spatial relations and expressions of the figures. The depiction of Jane Avril in Lautrecs works, with her grace, energy and distinctive character, presents a powerful narrative that reflects both her individual characteristics and the atmosphere of the period. The artists close relationship with Avril increased the depth of these representations and influenced his artistic production. The analysis of the works in this framework reveals that Lautrec treated female figures not only as an aesthetic element but also as a tool of social narrative.
