Özet:

It does not seem possible to define a concept that is not suitable for systematization in its entirety at first. Michel Charles, one of the well-known theorists of narratology, reduces the detail to a reading effect and argues that its definition is indefinable, in a sense dependent on the receiver. However, even though the detail is indefinable at first, it fulfills a function within the whole in which it is located. It cannot be defined alone, but it appears before us as a sign that assumes a function in relation to the whole. For this reason, we can make a series of determinations regarding the meta-discourses who said what? regarding the definitions made and the functions attributed to a concept that is claimed to be indefinable, but as Georges Vedel puts it, present here. In this article, we will make some determinations regarding the micro-reading of the detail as a sign that has a function and meaning, is included in the system in one way or another. As an example, we will give a brief summary of Laure Deprettos analysis of the birth detail in her article La Lettre à lErmite ou le détail scandaleux.
